Tropical Storm Alberto makes landfall; another system could develop in Gulf

SUMMARY: Tropical storm Alberto is making landfall near the Toó Mexico area, bringing heavy rain and flooding threats that extend northwards. While rain is easing in southern Texas, northern Mexico faces severe conditions. Eastern St. Bernard Parish and the western sides of Lake Pontchartrain are experiencing higher water levels, resulting in minor coastal flooding. High tides are contributing to the inundation, especially in low-lying roads. Although winds are decreasing, keeping water levels elevated, improvements are expected shortly. No major concerns are present in the Northern Gulf. Additionally, a system near the northern Bahamas may bring rain and gusty winds to the Georgia coast. Another system behind Alberto could potentially develop into Tropical Storm Beryl, bringing more rain but not posing a threat.

Meteorologist Payton Malone talks about Tropical Storm Alberto making landfall and a possible second named storm by this weekend.

Tropical Storm Alberto is making landfall Thursday morning in northern Mexico near Tampico. The storm will move inland Thursday and continue to dump heavy rain mainly over mountainous areas of northern Mexico.

Invest 92 is currently sitting east of The Bahamas. This disturbance has a low chance of becoming a short-lived storms as it near northern Florida/Georgia by Friday.

Another area of moisture is set to enter the SW Gulf (again) by this weekend. The National Hurricane Center does give this a chance of becoming another weak tropical storm. It would likely take a very similar path as Alberto. We don't expect major impacts from this on the northern Gulf Coast. Next name is Beryl.
