SUMMARY: We are monitoring two tropical areas: Invest 94 in the Caribbean Sea and Invest 95 in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic. Invest 94 is projected to move towards the Yucatan Peninsula, then into the southwestern Gulf, and finally into Eastern Mexico by late weekend, posing no threat locally. Invest 95, situated far out in the Atlantic, may develop into a named tropical system as it approaches the Lesser Antilles early next week. Locally, no tropical concerns are expected. The 7-day forecast predicts hot and humid conditions with temperatures in the 90s and daily showers and storms.

No tropical threats are expected through the Fourth of July. WWL Louisiana meteorologist Alexa Trischler with an ‘Eye on the Tropics' on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Invest 94 in the western Caribbean Sea has a low chance for development as it moves toward the Yucatan Peninsula through Friday. It could reach the Bay of Campeche in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, but models maintain it will remain well to the south of the U.S. Gulf Coast and development chances aren't very strong. Still, heavy rain is expected in parts of Central America and Mexico through this weekend.
