SUMMARY: In the tropics, not much is happening. The remnants of Alberto are gone, likely moving towards the Pacific. Currently, two features are of interest. The first is off the East Coast, showing some activity but weakened by dry air, moving towards Jacksonville and Savannah, bringing some rain but nothing major for Georgia and Florida. The second feature is trailing Alberto into the Southwest Gulf, expected to potentially form into a tropical system by tomorrow or late Saturday. It could make landfall in northern Mexico by the weekend, causing coastal flooding but no major impacts. Future storm names include Beryl, Chris, Debbie, and Ernesto.

The tropical weather update shows two areas being watched, neither of which is expected to be more than a weak tropical storm.

The police chief, Dion Buro, argues ten officers are necessary for safety, while Mayor John Ardwin advocates for the cut to help the town's budget. Chief Buro views the ordinance as a power play by the mayor, alleging it's unnecessary and motivated by personal disagreements. Meanwhile, a Facebook group opposing the ordinance has gained traction. The town's officials will vote on the measure soon, potentially impacting future police operations.
