Venture Global receives approval from FERC for second facility on Cameron Coast

SUMMARY: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the CP2 LNG project in Cameron Parish, a $1 billion venture by Venture Global, marking their second LNG facility in the area. Although the Kashu Pass LNG export plant has been operational since March 2022, outgoing commissioner Allison Clemens opposes the new project, citing inadequate assessments of environmental and community impacts, including significant greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 1.8 million new gas-fueled cars annually. The CP2 LNG project now requires export authorization from the Department of Energy, which has currently paused approval on all new export permits.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has given the green light to the CP2 LNG Project, which is a $10 billion project and Venture Global's second facility on the Cameron Coast. The Calcasieu Pass LNG Export Plant has been operational since March 2022.
