SUMMARY: This weekend in Southwest Louisiana features several family-friendly events. The Calcasieu Parish Public Library will host Saori Station, an educational event at various libraries starting at 3 PM at the Central Library in Lake Charles, where kids can interact with animals including lizards, snakes, and a tarantula. Sunday features “Music in the Park” from 5 to 7 PM at Nellie Lutcher Memorial Park with a concert by Jerus Dagel, plus food from local trucks. Additionally, McNeese State University offers a free “Catch a Concert” series on Monday at 6:30 PM with the Lake Charles Community Band at Tritico Theatre. More details are available at kplctv.com.

Local organization gives free books to the community

The initiative also promotes a sense of community and ownership among children. Since its inception, Read Free Louisiana has distributed around 12,000 books. St. Nicholas Center hosts the ‘Summer of Wonder’ magic show

Non-profit holds grand opening for new soup kitchen in Oberlin
